Seen-Here Sunday
Northern lights, or aurora bore
alis, were visible for a short time
between 7:45 and 8:15 p.m. Sun
day, night in State College, the
meteorology department said yes
terday.
The brilliant lights went from
luminous bands shooting out of
the north to a point where they
extended from horizon to horizon
for half an hour.
. The , display was brighter than
usual, but lacked the pastel colors
so often connected with the phe
nomenon.
The northern lights are thought
to be caused by the disturbance
of atoms in the upper atmosphere

MISS CATHERINE GILROY
It's difficult even for. those who know Kathie, well,
to imagine her as an eighth semester physics major.
But it would be much more difficult to find anyone
who could be more likeable than Kathie. It has been
both a wonderful treat and a rare privilege in know
ing her.
By the way, our apologies to the girls who came in
as late as yesterday as entrants for Miss Penn State.
Quality work can't possibly be, done on such short
notice.
