Princeton Prof
To Give Talk
On Humanities
Dr. Whitney 'J. Oakes, profes
sor of classics and chairman of
the speciai program in the hu-,
inanities at Princeton University,
will speak on "The Humanities:
The Core of Living Experience"
at 4:15 p.m. Monday in 121 Sparks.
Oakes will discuss the develop
ments i n the field of general
education at the second lecture of
the sixth annual Simmons series.
He has taken all his degrees
at Princeton University and is
widely known for his work in
ancient philosophy and classical
studies.
For seven years Oakes partici
pated in the "Invitation to Learn
ing" program of the 'Columbia
Broadcasting system and for one
year held an appointment as
Rockefeller Post-War Fellow.
Final State Party ,
Workshop Tonight .
The final State Party workshOp
meeting will be held at 7 tonight
in Sparks. Various groups• of the
workshop will meet in 11, 12, 13,
14. 134, and 125 Sparks.
Due to a ruling by the All-
College elections committee, the
workshop meetings can not be
counted toward the two-meeting
attendance required for clique
membership. It had previously
been announced that the meetings
would be counted.

Busses Scheduled
For Easter Traffic
Special express busses will
leave for major points in Penn
sylvania, April 9, to accommodate
Easter traffic, according to ,Fred
Sawczyn, new chairman of the
student .transportation committee.
They will leave the parking lot
south of Recreation Hall, 1 p.m.

raised to 25 cents at cabinet's last
meeting.
Cabinet will also hear the sec
ond reading of a proposed amend
ment to the All-College Consti
tution for a joint Freshman Cus
toms Bo ar d. The amendment
would replace Article 111, Section
5 of the constitution and provideS
for establishment of a customs
board composed of four upper
classmen and f our upperclass
women.
Cabinet will vote on a proposed
amendment which would give the
Board- of Publications the power
to determine additional members
by a three-fourths vote of the
board, subject to cabinet approval.
Under the present set-up, the All-
C o 1] e g e' Constitution must' be
amended each time a new mem
ber is added to the board.
Marvin Krasnansky, chairman
of the Board of Publications, will
ask cabinet to go on record as
being -opposed to the recent Sen
ate committee on athletics' ruling
that limits College entrants in
NCAA championship tournaments
to Eastern champions.
The Senate ruling has already
been criticized by James Worth,
All-College president; Liberal
Arts Student Council; Interfrat
ernity Council, and by an edi
torial in Tuesday's , Daily Colle
gian.
Cabinet will vote on payment
of $l5O dues to the National Stu
dent Association. Milton Bern
stein will present a Religion-in-
Life Week report and Stanley
Wengert will open discussion on
the Association of College Unions
Convention.
Poor Turnout Ends
Junior's Meeting
Because only four members of
the junior class turned out for a
class meeting last night, Michael
Hanek, class president, cancel'e'd
the meeting. Hanek expressed the
belief that student apathy is real
ly a great.problem.
A consensus was taken on the
proposed increase of 25 cents in
student fees, with the four mem
bers favoring the fee. The group
also favored the joint customs
board.
