SATUADAY, MARCH 1, 1952 Gymnasts Finish Season Today at Penn State's gymnastics team will end its dual meet season at 2 this afternoon when the Lions meet Temple University in Phila delphia. Coach Gene Wettstone's gymnasts will be trying for their fourth win of the season and third straight when they take on the Owls in Conway Hall. Temple has a 5-2 record for the year, having lost to Army and Navy. Two Lions will attempt to keep perfect records intact in dual meet competition. Jan Cronstedt, unbeaten on the horizontal bar, and Bobby Lawrence; - undefeated on, the side-horse, will be, strong favorites to continue their win ning ways this afternoon. Cronstedt's strongest competi tion is expected . from Temple's No. 1 man, John Jengo. Backing Croiistedt on the high-bar will be Mario Todaro and Karl Schwenzs feier. Frank Wick, Dick Shaffer, arid Lawrence will be Wettstone's en tries in the side-horse event. Probably the closest competi tion of the afternoon will come on the flying rings where the Lions' Jim Hazen, beaten only once this season, will match exercises with the Owls' ace, John Galente. Last season in the NCAA tourna ment Galente finished second. Tony Procopio and Schwenzsfeier *ill back Hazen as State's No. 2 and 3 men, respectively. State Ath letic Commission today papers to manage Rocky Castellani, Lu zerne, Pa. middleweight, and Tony Pellone, New York welter weight. Castellani and. Pellone had been managed by Tommy Ryan, who was suspended for life re-' cently. with Joe McCarthy, Bob Allen, and Pete Zelinski. A good race is expected in the rope climb between State's-No. 1 man, Dave Shultz, and Temple's Bill Scholl. Scholl's best time this year has been a 4.1 effort while Shultz has hit 4.0. John Baffa and Norman Yu will round out the State contingent. The Lions' Bob Kenyon will lock in a tumbling dual with the Owls' Dick Hartmeyer. Dietrick, a grid end, gave Arnelle a tough time under the boards in the second game. Virostek is the Panthers' tallest man and a good defensive performer. Gross will start his usual lineup of Co-captain Har d y Williams and Jack Sherry at the guards; Arnelle, center, and Herm Sled zik and Joe Piorkowski, forwards. Tiny McMahan, Ed Haag and Ron Weidenhammer will be the stand in reverses. After tonight's game the Lions will have only one scheduled contest left. Dorm 11, Dorm 4 Capture IM Court League Titles Dorm 11 and Dorm 4 scored important triumphs Thursday night to clinch the IM cage championships of League C and D, respectively. Dorm,ll romped to a 55-13 win over the Kappas to finish its sea son with a perfect 7-0 record. The Kappas' loss was their sixth of the season. The Fords offered no problem to the high-flying cagers from Dorm 4 as the new League D champions raced to a 49-11 vic tory. Dorm 4's well-rounded at tack was led by Charles Stroup who tallied 12 points. Dorm 4 fin ished the season with a 7-0 rec ord. The Misfits, after losing their center in the first five minutes on fouls, played Edgewood with four men, but could not hold up under the gruelling pace and lost, 33-16. The win for Edgewood was num ber four and moved the winners into a third place tie with the Misfits, who also finished' with a 4-3 slate.
