Summer
Program
C. M. "Dutch" Sykes, director of the summer recreation pro
gram has announced a full schedule of events for the Summer
Sessions.
One of the highlights of the program will be the Summer Artists
Course, which will be held July 10, 17, 24, and - August 2. Tickets
are now on sale for the series in 104 Burrowes building. The first
in the series will be Morley and Gearhart, Fred Waring's piano
The Summer Sessions Student-
Faculty Reception and Dance will
be held Friday night at 8:30 in
White Hall. Music for the infor
mal dance will be provided by
Don Peebles and his orchestra.
Thursday night, outdoor movies
will be shown on front campug at
the Pugh street gate at 9 p.m.
The feature production will be
"It Happened One Ngiht," star
ring Clark Gable and Claudette
Colbert. In case of rain, the film
will be shown in Schwab audi
torium. There is no admission
charge.
Men's swimming will be at the
Glennland pool, 4 to 5 p.m. Mon
days through Fridays during the
Main Session. Towels and lockers
will be supplied at no charge,
Sykes said. Women's swimming is
at the White Hall pool from 3:30
to 5 p.m. Mondays. Wednesdays
and Fridays, and from 7:30 to 9
p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Women's towel deposit tickets
must be bought at the Bursaes
office for $2.
Swimming
Mixed swimming will be held
at the Glennland pool on Tues
days, Thursdays, and Fridays
from 8:30 to 10 p.m. There is no
charge for towel and lockers and
admission is by matriculation
card.
Sykes also announced that
group singing will be held in
Schwab auditorium every Mon
day night at 8 o'clock
The athletic equipment room
will be open from 5 to 8:30 p.m.,
Monday through Friday in Dorm
XI for recreation equipment for
use in the East dorm area.
Equipment for use in Rec Hall
may be obtained from the office
in the south locker daily frbm 8
a.m. to 5 p.m. Men can purchase a
towel ticket at the Bursar's office
to use the towel-locker service.

ning a party or picnic may obtain
game equipment, cards, musical
recordings, and other recreation
equipment from the Recreation
office, 213 Rec

must be reserved in advance.

Alumni Golf
Tournament
Bill Luther, former Lion foot
ball star, took first honors in the
Alumni Golf tournament held as
part of Alumni Week. Luther,
from Philipsburg, took home a
golf bag as his' first prize.
Other 'winners in the "blind
bogie" tournament were: D. C.
Bowman, St. • Louis; William J.
Hamilton, , Erie; Nick Napora,
Butler; R. 0. Bixler, Glen Rock;
and E. K. McClintock, State Col
lege. They were all winners of
golf balls.

Owen Dougherty, 1950 captain,
Vince O'Bara, Tony Orsini and
George Jacob played under three
coaches in their three years at
Penn State and distinguished
themselves both offensively and
defensively. As Air Force ROTC
graduates, they've been assigned
to Dayton.
