- Princeton scrambled to the top in the District II battle
for baseball supremacy by defeating Georgetown 3-1 in a
crucial game Saturday. The victory moved Princeton's record
to 13-2 for the season, while Georgetown now has a 12-3 slate.
In another important game, Hofstra scored a run in the last
of the eighth to edge Queens College narrowly and remain
among the East's collegiate leaders with a 12-3 record.

to second baseman Bill Mihalich,
"You - haven't made an error yet,
have you Bill?" You guessed it.
The next inning Mihalich bobbled
an easy grounder for his first
miscue of the season. No wonder
ballplayers are superstitious.

Germans Vie
For Olympic
Committee
VIENNA, May 8 —(P)--West
Germany and East Germany must
get together if they want to take
part in the Olympic Games, the
International Olympic committee
decided today.
A German Olympic committee,
formed entirely of West Germans,
was admitted unanimously to the
lOC.
But, the Germans were told,
they will be kicked out again un
less East German athletes are
allowed to compete on an equal
basis with West Germans for
places on a German Olympic
team.
Two Israel Groups
It was almost the same thing
the lOC yesterday told the two
committees seeking admission of
Israel. The two Israel groups were
told to get together by Jan. 1,
1952, and they would be eligible
for the 1952 games.
The two German groups; how
ever, were ordered to appear be
fore an Olympic commission at
Lausanne, Switzerland, on May
20 and 21. '
Otto Mayer, chancellor of the
lOC, told a press conference that
"West Germany is more impor
tant because it has 60 million peo
ple while East Germany has about
22 million. But we must have the
East Germans, too. We cannot
accept two committees from one
country."
Formed Committee
East Germany had formed an
Olympic committee recently and
sent a representative here to seek
approval.
Mayer said, however, the exe
cutive commission had decided
last week to order the two Ger
man committees to combine.
He added that the East German
committee was agreeable to such
a combination.
"We think the West Germans
will be, too," Mayer said.
Konstantin Adrianov of Russia,
who was elected to the Olympic
committee yesterday, spoke in
favor of admitting the present
German committee. He also urged
that the committee be expanded
to include the East Germans.

Bad Shooting Answer
To Lacrosse Defeat
What makes coaches gray?
Lacrosse Coach Nick Thiel and his assistant, John McHugh, un
doubtedly know the answer after watching, their team absorb a
13-10 licking from once-vic
Thiel had this to say: "We
should have won the game, but
the way we were shooting it's no
wonder we didn't. If the boys
would learn to fake the goalie
before firing away, our team
would be a lot better off."
"As an example, take the last
shot we had in the game, the
one by (Ed) Herring. There was
no one between hi m and the
goalie. But instead of faking the
goalie ou t of position, he at
tempted to fire it past him. He
would have had an easy score if
he had thought a little instead of
just using plain force."
Mendelson Tough
The Lion coach continued: "It
was that way all through the
game. That's why it seemed as if

orious Syracuse last Saturday.
(Herb) Mendelson (the Syracuse
goalie) played such a whale of a
game. Not that he didn't play a
good game, don't misunderstand
me. But we made him look out
standing by just trying to smack
the ball past him when we should
have aimed a little."
Assistant Coach John McHugh
shook his head disgustedly when
asked about the Lion shooting.
"We took 40 shots at the Syra
cuse goal, and that doesn't in
clude the ten that we made. Ten
shots out of 50—one out of five—
that's pretty bad."
This week the Lions will really
have their hands full when they
take on th e undefeated Mary
land Lacrosse Club.
