Reece said ' plenty of part
time home maintenance jobs
were available immediately.
About 400 hundred full time
summer jobs in camp and re
sort work are listed, he said.
Taylor To Talk
On Rural Life
Dr. Carl C. Taylor, head of the
farm population and rural life
division, U.S. Department of Ag
riculture since 1936, will speak
at the rural social science sem
inar
at 3 p.m. Monday in 202 Hor
ticulture.
Dr. Taylor's subject will be
"Farmer's Movements." He will
tell the seminar. about the pro
gress of the farmer of today.
Taylor is a past president of
the American Sociological So
ciety, and American Country Life
Association.
He is the author of "Rural Life
in the United States," a widely
used text, "Human Relations,"
and "Rural Life in Argentina."
Dr. Taylor received his doctor
ate from the University' of Mis
souri. He has also studied at the
University of Chicago, Columbia,
and University of Texas.
He has held professorships at
the University of Missouri, North
Carolina State, and the 'Univer
sity of Texas.
The State Department sent
Taylor to Argentina, Paraguay,
Uraguay, Guatemala, and Puerto
Rico, where he did, some work in
the sociological field.,
Ed Group Names
New Committees
The Industrial' Education So
ciety at a recent meeting appoint
ed new committees and elected
a member to the board of gover
nors.
The members appointed to. new
committees were John Mattiet
membership. committee; William
L. Kodoich,. publicity committee;
and John Ferguson, social chair
man. Carl Fenstermacher was
elected to the board of governors.
Final plans were made for the
annual exhibit which is to be
displayed in Rea and Derick's
show window from May 14 to
May 19. A report was also made
of the annual picnic which is to
be held on Tuesday, May . 15, at
Holmes Forest Park. It is open
to all students and members of
the faculty.

guest speaker.
Reading Festival
Is 'Well Attended'
The third Intercollegiate Read
ing Festival held at the College
Thursday and Friday as part of
the Combined Arts Festival was
an "extremely well-attended af
fair," according to Mrs. Harriett
Nesbitt, chairman of the festival.
Forty-five students fr o m 12
Pennsylvania colleges and univer
sities participated in the sessions,
which included readingS in dra
ma, poetry, and short stories. Stu
dents representing the College
were Phyllis Brenckman, Regina
Friedman, James Beaver, an d
Ruth Johnson.
The festival was sponsored by
the Speech department.
Players Show Tickets
To Be Sold Monday
Tickets for Players' production
of the musical play "Lady in the
Dark" will go on sale at 1:30 p.m.
Monday at tli e Student Union
desk in Old Main.
The show will run next Thurs
day, Friday, and Saturday nights
in Schwab Auditorium. Prices
are 60 cents for Thursday and
$1 for the Friday and Saturday
performances.

ten by Moss Hart. with lyrics by
Ira o.ershwin and music by Kurt

The third phase of the modified
Olympics will be held at 4:40 p.m.,
and it will be followed by the
lest three events of the show: the
western parade horses, an open
five gaited class, and the hunt
teams.
Representing the College at the
show will.be all students enrolled
in a riding class and the modified
Olympic team composed of Mar
garet 'Warner, William Brodnax,
Edna Grabiak, and Ruth Rand.
Charles Amend is the manager
of the show and Richard Bard is
the ringmaster. Dr. Charles Stew
art is the ring gate keeper and
George S. Reese is in charge of
ribbons and trophy purchases.
The publicity is being handled by
Edna Grabiak.

School of Mineral Industries at
the College, will speak on "Penn
sylvania's Mineral Heritage" 'at
the 11th annual dinner of the
northeast chapter of the Pennsyl
