Lion Slogan
"Leadership, Experience, Abil
ity" will be the slogan of the
Lion party, clique chairman Mil
ton Bernstein said. "The slogan
says more than 100 words can
say," Bernstein said yesterday.
He indicated that the party's six
point platform will be stressed in
the campaigning.
State Planks
State party candidates will
stress four planks in the party's
platforms, Murray Goldman,
clique chairman, said yesterday.
The planks calling for student
referendums on all future assess
ments, investigation of the cost
of text books, investigation of
the procedure of women's Judi
cial, and sophomore class rep
resentation on Tribunal, will be
emphasized by the State party,
Goldman said.
Goldman added, however, that
of paramount importance was the
State party's promise to carry
out its platform.
"I would like to see every
pledge carried out," Goldman
said.
Bernstein issued the following
statement: "We are quite sure the
student body recognizes the need
for - good student government, and
good student government is
achieved by electing good candi
dates. We feel confident the Lion

Club To Sponsor
Chess Tournament
Plans have been completed for
an all-College chess tournament
to be sponsored by the Penn
State Chess club, Jerome Movso
vich, president, announced yes
terday.
Any student is eligible to par
ticipate in the tournament. Those
interested should attend the next
meeting of the organization in
7 Sparks at 7 p.m., Tuesday.
The type of tournament will be
decided by the number of en
trants. It will either be single
elimination or a round robin com
petition.

Maurey To Run
Ruler of the '137-pound division
in the recent , Eastern wrestling
championships, Maurey is the
middle man on Penn State's num
ber-one wrestling family. James,
an older brother, was captain of
the grapplers in 1950 and a two
time Eastern champ, while Jerry,
a younger brother, is star of the
freshman mat team and presi
dent of the freshman class.

A two-year veteran of the
basketball team, the '6
-foot, 7-
inch McMahan was rece n t l y
elected co-captain of the 1951-52
court squad. A native of Canada,
he is the son of a former Penn
State athlete.
