Forestry Ball Sweetheart
To Be Crowned Tonight
The crowning of a sweetheart will be the highlight of the
Forestry ball which will begin at 9 tonight in Recreation hall.
The finalists are Cassandra Caraway, sophomore from Beth
lehem, sponsored by Alpha Zeta fraternity; Hope Jeffries, music
education freshman from State College, sponsored by Phi Kappa
Sigma fraternity; and Claudia King, sophomore from Punxsutawney,
sponsored by the Waiters of Ath
erton Hall.
The finalists were chosen from
photographs of all contestants by
the faculty of the Penn State For
est school at Mont Alto.
Lyman Jackson, dean of the
School of Agriculture, is chair
man of the committee which will
choose the sweetheart.
Other judges include W. E.
Kenworthy, direct& of student
affairs, and N. A. Norten, profes
sor of Wood Utility.
Dean Jackson will also present
the finalists with -prizes and flow
ers donated by Woodring's floral
gardens.
Darrell Rishel's orchestra will
provide music for the semi-for
mal dance. Paul Bunyan, the
American jegendary woodsman
will be at the dance, but the for
esters won't tell anymore about
'Tickets for the ball are on sale
for $2 at 'the Student Union desk
in Old Main, at the Forestry
building and will be sold tonight
at the door. The dance is oven to
all students.

guest speaker for the Phi Mu dis
trict convention to be held April

May Day Program
Set For May 12
At a meeting of the WSGA
House of Representatives last
night, the May Day ceremonies
were set for 2 p.m., May 2, while
the teas and open houses will be
held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Nominations • for. May queen
and the maid-of-honor will be
held during house meetings in the
women's dormitories on Thurs
day, March 29. At these meetings,
members of each dorm unit will
elect one girl to represent them.
Then at a primary election three
senior finalist will be chosen, In
the final elections a queen, maid
of-honor, two senior and fresh
men attendants will be selected.
It was also decided that fresh
men will receive a 12 and a 1
o'clock alternate for the IFC Ball
weekend April 6 or 7, while up
perclasswomen will have a 2 o'-
clock for the dance and a one o'-
clock for Saturday night.

mittee was also discussed at the
meeting.

Bring On Spring
St. Patrick's day, we hope, will
herald the approach of spring.
At any rate the Irish will sprout
their shamrocks and Kelly green
socks, sweaters, and other ap
parel to honor their patron saint.
In New York city the yearly St.
Patrick's day parade will march
down Fifth avenue. -
Coincidental or not, students
can also celebrate in a more-than
usual-Saturday night date. The
Forestry ball offers dancing from
9 to 12.
Though St. Patrick and Ireland
are synonymous today, his birth
place has never been definitely
established. Probable locations
are Scotland, England, or France.
His life was adventurous. At 16
he was captured by pirates and
spent six years in slavery. Dur
ing this time he became a devoted
Christian. He escaped to France
and later returned to Ireland
where he founded 300 churches.
