Penn State Cagers Meet
Powerful Middies Today
The Nittany Lion basketball team will move over to Annapolis
today for a contest with the Midshipmen of the U.S. Naval Acad
emy. The Penn State cagers met Georgetown last night in Wash
ington, D. C.
Due to the late starting time of the game with the Hoyas, the
Collegian was unable to obtain the results before it went to press.
Against Navy this afternoon,
the Lions will be up against one
of those "enjoying one of their
best seasons in years" teams
which have been dogging Coach
Elmer Gross' team all year.
Although the Lions will not
have to contend with any "bas
ketball goons" when they meet
the Middies (no one over 6 feet 4
inches is admitted to the acad
emy), they will be up against one
of the fastest teams to take the
court against the Nittanies this
season.
So far this year the Nay court
men have piled up 13 victories
against only three defeats, hav
ing played all but two of these
contests on their home court. As
the Middies are allowed to play
away from the academy only a
few times a year, the Navy pass
ers are almost invincible on their
home grounds.
Colgate, who dropped the Lions
here last month, also holds a win
over Navy as does another mu
tual- opponent, Georgetown. Last
Saturday, the Middies took the
