TWLSDAT, DECEMBER 12, 1950 Coed Groups Discuss Govt. At Retreat Members of WSGA, WRA, Pan hel, and Leonides drew up .a series of suggestions for improving women’s student government at the WSGA retreat held'Saturday in Hemlock cottage. The constitutions .of WSGA, WRA, and Leonides were amend ed during the morning sessions. At the joint meeting of WSGA and WRA it was suggested that more publicity be given to the combined elections. This would include the publishing of candi dates pictures and having them introduced at dormitory house meetings. It was also suggested that a board of nominations be organized to accept and screen petitions from candidates. This move would eliminate the heed for an open meeting, which so far has not proved very effective. WSGA Week The possibility of . holding a WSGA week as a followup to orientation week was also dis cussed. The purpose i of a WSGA week,,which would be held from Monday to Thursday, would be to explain and , publicize women’s student government. One day would be devoted to the ex planation of each organization and Thursday night humorous skits about women’s government would be held at the various house , meetings. suggestion concerned the promotion of a women’s news paper on campus. The paper would be' published about once a month and would feature inter dorm news. The organizations will investigate the cost of print ing the paper and the possibility of forming an editorial staff. Training Program Members of the. organizations decided that there should be a training program for leaders. Such a program, could be held late in the spring, just after the elections. The outgoing officers could instruct the incoming offi cers in their duties. Such a pro gram would instruct the girls in parliamentary procedure. The four organizations will be discussing these suggestions at their future meetings.
