PAGE EIGHT Carpenter Named Committee Head President Milton .S. Eisenhower yesterday named Dr. C. R. Car penter, professor of psychology arid director of the Instructional Film Research project, chairman of th e All-College Coordinating and Planning committee. The committee assists members of the faculty in planning proposals for research work to be submitted to the Ford Foundation. The 14-year-old Ford Founda tion, established to “advance hu man welfare” sponsors research work particularly in the fields of social sciences and humanities. To cooperate with the Foundation Dr. Carpenter requests members of the faculty to discuss possible extensive projects that might be undertaken at the College. These projects should contribute to the knowledge of basic social proces ses related to the major current problems of human adjustment. After the central idea has been formulated, members of the fac ulty should submit brief, general statements on the suggested pro ject to the Coordinating and Planning committee, 307 Bur rowes. Dr. Carpenter and the oth er members of the Committee, to be named later, will work closely with departments or faculty hav ing proposals, but any additional information can now be found in the reserve room of the library. Johnson, visual aids specialist with the agricultural extension service of the College, whose photography has earned him international recognition, has been named an , associate of the Photographic society of America. At the society’s recent annual convention in Baltimore, where the honor was conferred, Johnson also; was elected chairman of its color division in recognition of his leadership in this field. As chairman of the color divi sion, he automatically becomes a member of the board of'directors, made up of representatives of the profession from the United States and foreign countries.
