Gordon, professor of rural sociology extension, was awarded second prize of $3OO in a songwriting contest sponsored by the State Department of Com merce for Pennsylvania. Week. Crooks, who re ceived his doctor of philosophy degree at the College, and who is now a research chemist with Parke, Davis, and Co., has been assigned the job of establishing a research unit for the firm in Lon don. Dr. John G. Seeley, professor of floriculture, received the Vaug han award in that department. Robert K. Dennett, graduate as sistant in plant breeding, was junior author of the paper which won the Vaughan award in vege table crops, along with W. A. Frazier of the University of Hawaii.
