The Lorch Case
This is an appeal for reconciliation in the
Lorch case
It is an appeal for sensible action to end the
embarrassing situation in which the College
finds itself.
Although' little has been said by College offi
cials on the Lorch case, and although Dr. Lorch's
testimony is far from conclusive, there is evi
dence that much difficulty arose from misun- Gazette....

If mistakes have been made, a sincere at
tempt at reconciliation would go a long way
toward clearing them up and producing a
more healthy atmosphere. If a hearing should
reveal past mistakes, the prestige of the Col
lege among thinking people would be greatly
enhanced by a reconciliation.
The Lorch case has developed into a nasty
situation which has no comfort for either side.
For the good of the College and education in
general, every effort should be made to reach a
just and reasonable conclusion

A Five Cent Coke
TO THE EDITOR: Attention Coca Cola corn
pany. Do you believe in free enterprise?
Backing this form of business in our demo
cracy is now in your hands.
A local "hot dog" specialist is grieved in find
ing that a petition against him c i r c u la t e d
throughout the borough because he believes in
Selling a coke for the pre-war nickel instead of
today's six-cent nickel.
It is reported that one of your agents has con
tacted the party in hope of getting him to recon
sider—" Have 'a Coke; only five cents."
"Pop," as he is known, refused flatly. He's
aiming for good will, which is a vital credit in
all kinds of business. But local businessmen
have other ideas and *ant him to stop 'selling
six ounces of cola for five cents.
Your company's pressure will most certainly
carry the burden of the outcome in this situa
tion. What will you; do? Listen to the fpetiticin
and allow communistic free enterprise? Or will'
you refuse and carry the practice that is known
to us in our democracy.
