PAGE FOUR Leonides Edges Simmons To Win Volleyball Crown Spikes, set-ups, long rallies, and excellent teamwork character ized the volleyball playoff in which Leonides squeezed out Simmons, 28-26, to win the volleyball crown. Leading at the half, 16-14, Sim mons held the lead several times throughout the game. However, it was the neat net play between Helen Rusinko, Leonides, and Pat Siegal, Simmons, which highlighted the exciting game. A large group of enthusiastic spectators witnessed the contest in which high-scoring honors were shared by Pat Siegal, Sim mons, and Evelyn Laning, Leo nides, with nine points apiece. Laning’s overhand serves help ed bring about the downfall of the girls from Simmons. Both teams entered,, the play offs with clean records. Simmons downed Atherton 52-19, in their one-sided semifinal game; while Leonides trimmed M c Elwain, 34-12, in their previous encoun ter. Leonides also holds high scoring team honors of the sea son, having scored 76 points against Alpha Gamma Delta.
