Coal Supply Drops
As Cold Continues
Cold and coal at the College
are continuing in opposite direc-
The weatherman predicts in
creased cold, with last night be
ing the coldest night of the win
ter. Recorded temperature at 4
p.m. yesterday was 13 degrees.
The College coal supply is still
diminishing despite small amounts
being purchased.
Supervisor of Utilities, R. Y.
Sigworth, said yesterday that the
continuing cold weather is caus
ing a greater consumption of coal
than ordinarily used at this time
of year.
An attempt is being made to re
duce the amount of coal burned,
without lowering room tempera
tures excessively. Students are
urged to conserve heat by keep
ing windows closed when rooms
are not occupied, and by not al
lowing drafts to circulate.
The College Meteorology de
partment says the cold spell will
continue through the weekend
with rising temperatures, follow
ed by possible rain or snow early
next week.
