A flashy pair of sophomore performers, Hardy Williams and
Jay McMahan, stole the show last night at Rec Hall as they led Penn
State's cagers to a rousing 8 . 2 '
to 56 win over a.stunned West. Virginia

team.
In tabbing their astronomical 82 points the Nittany offense
established a modern Rec Hall record ,before another well-filled
house of about 4600 fans.
For the Lions it marked a start
ling reversal of form over their
three previous showings in which
they sustained successive losses.
The win was State's tenth against
seyqn setbacks, while the Moun
taineers, playing , without the
benefit.of Coach Lee Patton, who
was injured in an automobile ac
'cident, were plucked for' their
ninth loss against ten wins.

'the Lions a 24 to 24 tie with a
foul shot„McMahan drove through
with three tap sfiots and a pair
of fouls. Williams . then rippled
on three . consecutive one-hand
shots to give - State .its command-,
ing half-time edge. .

SPE Upsets Theti Chi,
Throws League Into Tie
Sigma Phi Epsilon threw League D into a three way tie Tues
day night by upsetting Theta Chi, 23-20. The top rung of the league
is now shared by Theta Chi, SPE, and Alpha Gamma Rho.
Leaving the floor at half time with a six point lead, SPE turned
back a second half rally by the previously undefeated Theta Chi
quintet which fell three points short of the mark. George Jacobs led
the way for the winners with
seven points.

PHI SIG'S WIN
In the other League,contest,
Phi Sigma Delta handed heta Xi
its fourth loss, 35-15. Kurt Her
man took scoring, honors for the
evening with 12 points as he led
his team to victory. .
Phi Kappa Psi 'posted victor'
number four League .B at the
expense of Phi Gamma Delta,
13-8. The win put the victors into
a tie with Alpha Phi Alpha for
the lead position. Torn Robinson
got six points 'for PKP.
Phi Epsilon Pi, aided- - by a
brother act in the persons of Iry
and Lou Cohen who each tossed
in. ten points, finally bioke intp
the win column with .'a 34-16 con
quest of Sigma Phi Alpha. '

Sigma Phi,. 20-12, for its second
victory of the season. Bob Mona
han took scoring honors for the

Phi Sigma Kappa 17-9 with John
Walker leading the way with'six.
