Recalls Camp
(Continued from page one)
Polish people for every German,
he continued, and it was not un
usual for 100 Poles to be shot
for one underground offensive.
In September, 1944, Rosner
was sent to Liesing, Austria, a
labor camp.
“Every morning, we were
taken in trucks to a factory near
Vienna, returning at night,” he
said. V
Escaped
In March, 1945, as the Russian
offensive became stronger, more
and more Nazis left the camp.
During the confusion of the last
days, Rosner escaped, and after
five days arrived in Salzburg.
A short time later, Andrew
and his mother were reunited
through a friend. However, he
has not seen his father since
1944. In 1945, he received word
that his father had been arrest
ed bv Russia. This has not been
verified, however.
“In October, 1945,” Rosner
continued, “I was sent on a Polish
Army scholarship to the Univer
sity of Innsbruk, where I studied
medicine for three years.
Through the International
Refugee Organization I came to
America, where I applied for aid
with World Student Service
fund.”
Arrives At College
He arrived at the College about
a month ago, and at the present
time is temporarily staying at
the Beta Sigma Rho fraternity.
The fund set up by IFC will
supply room and board for a
year, and books. In addition, he
will receive a small spending
fund.
Andrew Rosner is very grate
ful to IFC and deeply impressed
by the kindness everybody has
shown.
“I will become a citizen of the
United States,” he declares, “and
hope to enter the field of med
icine after graduation.”
