Harriers Vie With Cornell Today
Wernermen Favored
la Final Home Meet
Penn' State’p seniorless cross country team will go after its sec
ond victory of the season today when the Nittany-Lion .runners
play host to Cornell’s; Big'Red at 4 o’clock this afternoon.
Coach Chick Werner has chosen 14 men to face Cornell in an
attempt to repeat last weeks victory against NYU. The-Red Raiders
from Ithaca are coming to State College with the same number of
runners. ———
COURSE
The race will start.on the»Bea
ver Field' track and will be run
on the College golf course. For
tile Lions it will be the last meet
at home this season. Following
the. Cornell meet, the Wernermen
take to the road for dual meets
with Michigan State and Man
hattan College.
The Penn State team will be
seeking jits fourth -straight win
over the lads from Cayuga’s wa
ters. And barring the unexpect
ed, the Nittany Lions will enter
the: meet as favorites.

Lions Prepare .

At E. Lansing
Penn State’s gridders are slat
ed for signal drills and a light
workout in Michigan State’s
Macklin Field Stadium today.
The Lions, 35 strong, left State
College late yesterday by train
and are due to arrive in East
Lansing about noon.
Final word on fullback Fran
Rogel’s ankle Injury is not too
optimistic. Trainer Chuck Med
lar said yesterday that Rogel
may be available, for part-time
duty, but he was doubtful.
Earl Mundell, 155-pound scat
back, and-Conrad Brown, reserve
tackle, did not make the trip.
All the other players are in good
shape, .although Fred Felbaum
will see only “limited
service." .
The Lions face one of the best
running backs in the country in
Michigan State’s Lynn Chand
npife, 195-pound, 6-foot, 2-inch
senior right-halfback. Chandnois,
a 60-minute man, was the Spar
tans’ top scorer last season with
72 points. .

Warming to his task, Cy Troyan, the one man air force of the
Coal Crackers, passed for five touchdowns and four extra points to
lead his teammates to a record-breaking 40-0 conquest of tiorm 39
under the arc lights of Beaver practice field Wednesday night.
Only last week, Troyan’s crew, defending independent champ
ions, scored 34 points to set the mark which fell by the wayside
Wednesday. :
