Panhel Grants Request
For One Coffee Hour
Permission was granted at a special meeting of the Panhellenic
Council Thursday night to allow four sororities to hold only one
Coffee Hour tomorrow.
Alpha Xi Delta and Beta Sigma Omicron were givpn permission
to hold their one Coffee Hour during the first period, from 1:30 to
3 p.m. The one Coffee Hour of Alpha Chi Omega 'and Theta Phi
Alpha will be held from 3:45 to 5:15 p.m. Requests .were made be
cause of the small number of
rushees invited to the Coffee
Hours.
. Rushees should pay particular
attention to the request that any
rushee leaving town for theiweek
end should sign her preferential
lists in the dean of women’s office
before she leaves, Miss
Jackson, assistant to the dean of
women and advisor to. Panhel,
stated.

Philotes Asks Girls
To Open Meeting
> Philotes, independent women’s
social organization will hold ah
open meeting for prospective
members in the White Hall play
room from 7 to 9 pirn. Monday.
The purpose of Philotes is to
unify the non-sorority girls with
the aim of broadening their role
in social and academic life, to
stimulate their interest ip scholar
ship and activities, to help them
acquire self-confidence, and to
promote friendly cooperation to
ward all other campus organiza
tions.
Any independent woman inter
ested in membership is invited to
this open meeting.
In 1928 the women of Penn
State were permitted for the first
time to hold any position on Froth.
This was heralded as a step to
ward a “more equal rating of men

Sororities To Entertain
Their Homecoming Alumnae
Returning alumnae of many sororities will be entertained by
their chapters this weekend.
Alpha Chi Omega, Chi Omega, Gamma Phi Beta, Kappa Kappa
Gamma, Delta Delta Delta, Kappa Delta, and Zeta Tau Alpha win
entertain their alums in their suties living room today following the
Liggitt—Phillips
The announcement of the en
gagement of Lucille Phillips,
senior in elementary education,
to Robert Liggitt has been made.
Miss Phillips, who is a member
of Gamma Phi Beta, is rushing
chairman of her sorority, a mem
ber of Treble Singers, and Judi
cial. She is from Oxford and her
fiance is from York, Pa.

supper for their alumnae at 7
p.m. today followed by a social
meeting.
A breakfast will be held in
honor of the alumnae of Delta
Gamma at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow in
