FRIDAY, APRIL 8, 1949 `Alice in Waterland' Theme Of Swimming Club Aquacade An immortal story changes to "Alice in Waterland" as the WRA Swimming Club presents its annual aquacade in White Hall pool at 8 p.m. today and tomorrow. Spectators will pass with Alice through her many encounters with mythical "Waterland" creatures, as they observe the "Caucus- Rdce," the "Croquet Game," the "Lobster Quadrille," "Who Stole the Tarts," and the "Mad Tea- Party," Feature Duets Two duets are being specially featured. Reta Reed and Anna Keller will portray Alice and the White Rabbit as the duo suppos edly starts its downward descent to "Waterland", while Jacqueline Zivic and Jane Levy will capture the limelight in their interpreta tion of Tweedledee and Tweedle dum. Although there is no charge for the show, tickets of admission must be obtained from partici pants in the acquacade or from members of the Swimming Club. THE DAILY COLLEGIAN, STATE COLLEGE, PENNSYLVANIA College Places In Swim Meet Third place in the girl's East ern Regional Telegraphic Swim ming Meet of 1949, was captur ed by the College, Miss Ruth Leonard, girl's swimming coach, announced yesterday. The var ious events were held several weeks ago in White Hall pool and times were then sent to Skidmore College, regional spon nor. Among the five place winners were Swarthmore College, first; Skidmore College, second; Penn State, third; Chestnut Hill Col lege, fourth; and the University of Massachusetts, fifth. The results were announced in a telegram which Miss Leon ard received Wednesday from Skidmore College. No news of national standing has yet been received. Bos, the 73-year-old musician who accompanied Helen Traubel on her recent Artist's course appearance here, is also Margaret Truman's singing coach. Miss Truman is learning to frown, smile, bow loosely and sing distinctly under the tutelage of Mr. Bos. Haller award Wednesday night. The award, established in memory of Barbara S. Haller, a former Chi Omega, is given annually by that sorority in the amount of $5O to encourage graduate work in the social sciences. Miss Welker was chosen for her out standing work in the field of political science. The occasion was the ob servance of Chi Omega's an nual founders' day, the "El usinia" celebration . The presentation took place at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Robert E. Dengler at a dessert party.
