sent "Classical Musicale," a music
program featuring long playing
records, in Simmons Lounge, 8
p.m. today.
All students are invited to at
tend the program which will
open w ith Handel's "Alcina
Suite" and will be followed by
Beethoven's "Fourth Piano Con
certo" and Schubert's "Great C
Major Symphony."
If sufficient interest is shown,
the idea will be continued.

Seven girls were recently ini
tiated into Kappa Phi, Methodist
girls' organization, recently. The
new members include Lois Jean
Condra, Jane Ellin Crane, Leslie
Knuth, Jacqueline O'Dell, Ro
berta O'Dell, Shirley Slick and
Isabel Sorenson.
Delta Delta Delta
Delta Delta Delta initiated
twelve members Saturday after
noon. New initiates are Adelaide
Bailey, Betsi Conoway, Nancy
Cray, Janet Evans, Isobel Grieg,
Lois Hartley, Marjorie Jones,
Nancy Maurer, Elinor Ralston,
Janet Reed, Esther Rinehuls,
Anne Woodfin.
The initiation climaxed Delta
Week, during which pledges and

Coeds Compete
in Telegraphics
Coeds will compete in the first
meet of National Telegraphic
Swimming in White Hall pool at
7:45 p.m. today.
The nature of the meet requires
that girls swim against time in
order that scores may be sent to
Skidmore College, host school for
this year's competition. A second
meet to allow for the bet
terment of ties will be held Fri
clay, February 25.
Approximately 50 schools enter
Telegraphics each year, and each
entry is placed in a region. They
may qualify for first, secone., third
place, etc., in that competition as
well as for a place nationally.
Teams from the College have
done consistently well in placing
regionally and nationally, last
year's team placing first in the
Eastern Region and fourth, na
tionally.
Team members who have com
pleted the eight one-half hour
daily swim periods necessary for
entry are Lois Evans, Marilyn
Guillet, Commie Keller, Lucy
Mitinger, Reta Reed and Betty
Jane Strom. Miss Ruth Leonard. is
coach of the team and is assisted
by Miss Jacque Zivic.
Philotes To Honor
Advisors at Tea
Philotes will entertain their
advisor, Miss Marie Haidt, asso
ciate professor of physical edu
cation, and their prospective ad
visors, Dr. Jessie Bernard, asso
ciate professor of sociology, and
Dr. Agnes McElwee, associate
professor of English composition
at a tea in the study lounge of
Simmons on Saturday from two
to four. Members of Philotes will
serve refreshments.
An open meeting for all inde
pendent women will be held in
the second floor lounge of Sim
mons at 7 p.m. Monday. This
meeting is mainly for prospective
members and all independent
women are urged to attend.
Philotes was organized in 1937
to bring independent women into
a closer relationship in their so
cial life and activities. Discus
sions, speakers, and social func
tions are all included in plans for
this semester.

To Compile List
Of Chaperones
A list of available chaperones
for group dances and social
events is being compiled in the
Dean of Women's office.
This project was undertaken at
the request of the Dean of Wo
men who found that many organ
izations had diffffieulty in secur
ing chaperones for dances and
social affairs.
At its weekly meeting Mortar
Board elected new officers to fill
vacancies left by graduating sen
iors. Lois Resler was elected
treasurer; Marjarie Gorham, his
torian; and Nancy Ault, Frances
Keeney and Patricia Kinkead
were chosen to write an article
for the Mortar Board Quarterly,
national publication .
Easton Man Wins
Sorority Contest
David Bergstein of Easton won
the portable radio given by Alpha
Epsilon Phi in their contest
sponsored January 25 for the sor
ority's local project, the Penn
State Nursery school.
Of the $l5O the sorority has
raised for the project, $lOO will
be given to the school and the
rest will go to the GI Nursery
school.
Alpha Delta Sigma
