Probably the largest crowd to
witness a Nittany Lion basket

on hand tonight at Convention

leads his hungry Lion pack into
battle against the high-flying
Owls of Temple University.
With the Lawthermen noted

West's Goal
Tops Phi Psi
The count was knotted 6-6 at
the half, 17-17 at the end of reg
ulation time, then Bill West of
Sigma Chi turned the stalemate
into a Sigma Chi triumph, 20-19,
over Phi Kappa Psi in IM bas
ketball at Rec Hall Thursday
night.
West, who accounted for 11
points, broke loose for a quick
fielder and added a well-calcu
lated frank toss to turn the tide
in the tightest battle on the
boards in a week.
His work was outshone by the
combined scoring of Pi Kappa
Alpha however. Showing off their
own version of the Iron Curtain,
the PiKA's b 1 a n k e d Triangle,
34-0, to rack up the only shut
out contest this season. Harold
Rahn was the big gun offensively
for the victors,
Sigma Pi and Phi Delta Theta
drummed out their sixth straight
wins in leagues "C" and "B" re
spectively to stay ahead of the
packs. Sigma Pi beat Alpha
Gamma Rho, 26-16, and the Phi
Delts thumped Alpha Tau Omega,
26-12.

Gymnasts Seek
14th Straight
In quest of their 14th consecu
tive victory in dual competition.
Coach Gene Wettstone's Nittany
Lion gymnasts will meet the Uni
versity of Syracuse gymnastic
contingent, coached by Paul Ro
meo, in Archbold gymnasium at
Syracuse, 8 o'clock tonight.
In addition to stretching their
victory skein another notch, the
Lions will be seeking to reestab
lish their hold on the Eastern In
tercollegiate gym diadem they
won last year.
The Orangemen are the first of
four Eastern Intercollegiate foes
to be faced this season.
Limn Mentor Wettstone has es
tablished his squad as very slight
favorites in tonight's encounter,
but looks for an extremely close
meet that might go eithe r way.
The Nittanyites were 71-25 con
querors of the Syracusans in their
meeting last year.
Road Games Last
Penn State will play four of its
first six football games at home
next season, then play the last
three games on the road.
