TO THE EDITOR—Dear Coppers: Things are
getting pretty bad when we girls can’t even be
serenaded at bedtime by our favorites, the Honey
Boys, without having the Campus Cops interfere.
Don’t get me wrong about the patrol . . they us
ually do a very fine job. But what’s the harm in
a little sweet music now and then?
If I am not mistaken, the Honey Boys were
never chased before. We were honored with their
nresence on several occasions during the spring.
Did they suddenly turn into a group of malicious
evil-doers that might harm the girls by standing
outside their windows?
Come on, cops, just because you aren’t music
lovers, don’t deprive us of that lovely sweet sing
ing which is one of the few thinvs that will make
'he girls dormitory quiet. We like to be sung to
sleen and honest, we won’t let the big bad singers
v >urt us?
• The over-zealous patrolman was doing his
'tuty as he saw fit, since there are standing orders
to rout rowdy and boisterous revellers in the
neighborhood of air] s’ dormitories at night.
Naturally the Honey Bovs, who are noted
nearly as much for their sobriety and circumspect
ness as for their harmonious serenading, should
not fall in that cateoory, and in fact were sup
posed to he exempted from the rulinq.
Evidently, the campus cop was unaware of the
decision to permit the orderly sinaino of the tradi
tional "cruartelte" made after coed disapproval of
a ' ? milar episode near the end of May.
Since last Tuesday night, perhaps too late as it
may have been the group's last serenade, all mem
bers of the patrol have been instructed not to
bother the Honey Boys.
10 Sparks,
If they should reorganize in the fall, or if a
similar responsible group should form and be
recognized, it is hoped that a suggestion made by
Miss Pearl O. Weston, dean of women, be car
ried out.
10 Sparks,
Dean Weston, who likes the custom and ap
proves of the bovs. believes thev should be fur
nished with credentials, signed hw Frank
assistant orofessor of music, and pb”m a Mark,
captain of campus patrol. —The Editor.
