Golfers Win 9th;
Top Bucknell, 8-1
The Lion linksmen continued to play the brand of ball that won
them the EIGA championship, when they defeated the Bisons of
Bucknell, 8-1,
The victory was number nine without a loss for the Blue and
White team, who had beaten Bucknell once before on the Bison's
links by an identical 8-1 score. Yesterday's game was the final
appearance of the Nittany golfers on the home greens this season.

by limiting the host team to
five hits.
Dick Wertz collected two of
the winners' four hits, while
Al Tkac and Tom Hogan each
garnered one.
Charlie Concklin, Bison cen
ter fielder, slammed out a
single, double and triple.

Coach Sherman Fogg's netmen
dropped their third contest of the
season to a strong Lehigh team
on the varsity courts yesterday
afternoon.
Chalking up a 6-3 victory over
the Lions, the visiting racqueteers
boosted their win record to six
games against nine starts.
Del Helt and Al Sopp were
the only Nittanymen to score vic
tories on the singles court. Helt
downed Bob Dyer 6-4, 6-1, while
Sopp de feat e d Bill Clinkun
broomer with a hard fought 0-6,
6-0, 6-3 decision.
Ray Stauffer, Lehigh, beat
Herb Beckhard, Jack Millinger
won over Lion captain Bob Tut
tle, Dick Greenawalt lost to

The final round of the IMA

the Dux Club tonight.

Track finals in both the inde
pendent and fraternity groups
will be run on the New Beaver
Field track at 6:30 o'clock tonight
as only one of last year's win
ners, Larry Joe, Sigma Nu, will
go to the starting line to defend
his 100-yard dash title.
Joe, who ran the century in 9.9
seconds last year, broke the tape
in 10.3 Tuesday night for the
lastest mark of the seven heats.
Running in a stiff wind on the
backstretch of the 440-yard run,
ttay Schlosser, Sigma Chi, com
pleted the quarter-mile stint in
:54.7, more than a second slower
than last year's time. Bob Hetrick
placed behind Schlosser with a
::54.9 for the second best quali
fying time.
Sigma Chi placed its 880-yard
relay team of Wendell Lomady,
John Latshaw, Ray Schlosser and
John Long first with a mark of
1:40.7, two seconds slower than
last year's mark.

Born Meinken, Phi Kappa Psi,
annexed the all-College golf put
ting championship. He clinched
the honors Tuesday with a win
over John Swigart, Phi Sigma
Kappa.
Both had 'advanced to the
finals by scoring victories in the
much-delayed semi-finals. Mein
ken eliminated George Schautz,
Delta Upsilon, while Swigart de
feated George Kuzman.
Golf *
The intramural golf tourna
ment moved into the semi-final
stage this week, with all semi
final matches to be played by to
morrow.
In the third round, Beta Theta
Pi blasted Kappa Delta Rho, Phi
Gamma Delta eliminated Delta
Upsilon, Sigma Nu triumphed
over Sigma Chi and Kappa
Sigma defeated Phi Kappa Psi.
Softball
Five teams advanced in the
fraternity softball league re
cently.
Chi Phi beat Alpha Gamma
Rho, 11-1. Alpha Sigma Phi lost
to Alpha Phi Delta, 3-0. Pi
Kappa Phi won over Beta Sigma
Rho, 6-2, while Sigma Phi Sigma
defeated Delta Tau Delta, 16-3.
Sigma Chi nosed out Alpha Phi
Alpha by a 9-7 score.
