PACE TWO Sex Education Parent-Teachers Association of State College was ti ea,,eu uy the showing of the new film, "Human Growth," which is hot yet ready for public release. The film is the story of human life, designed as an instruc tional aid for the grammar school teacher in giving sex in struction to a co-educational class. The film is the result of long study by experts of the University of Oregon. It presents an opportunity, and a challenge, to the young citizens of America, particularly the college group. Think.ng people have long realized the need for reform in methods of sex instruction. Treatment of sex as a normal function, free exchange of ideas in co-educational classes, instruction to children at an early age are the components of the new idea in sex education. "Human Growth" is one long step toward a realization of these factors. Unfortunately, a large percentage of the public does not seem prepared for such a forward step. That is the challenge that college students face today. This new film, after its re lease, can be the means of spreading the new methods. Today's college students, who will be tomorrow's gram mar and high school teachers, and even more important, to morrow's parents, must take the lead in seeing that the sex theme is no longer "hushed up." It is their chance to lead the way on a path to an enlightened outlook on life, and make possible happier, healthier children in an enlightened world. —Howard Back Editor's Mail call Cabinet Agenda TO THE EDP Olt: Following is the agenda for the next All- College Cabinet meeting May 20, at 8 p.m. Roll Call Minutes of Previous Meeting Oath of Office to Officers Reports of Officers Adoption of the Agenda Old Business: Report of committee on gifts to gym team. War, A Crime TO THE EDITOR: It is our re sponsibility as world citizens to do everything in our power to prevent World War 111 and to make "peace in our time" a reality instead of a mere dream. 'I am convinced that this demands responsible individual action which may at times make it necessary for people to disobey laws passed by national govern ments, and enter into civil dis obedience.) War is a crime against human ity and I believe it is criminal for individuals to participate in such actions. It is at least within the power of an individual to affect disarmament by one gun, and that I shall do. I know that many others will be with me in seeking to obey a higher law while violating the federal law, and it is my hope that many others will seriously consider rejecting war as a mini mum step in achieving world unity. This position may mean prison, persecution or even death but no other course will convince men and governments that indi viduals will no longer be bull dozed into criminal acts because of legislative orders. Wars will cease when men refuse to fight. —Larry Gara. CALENDAR Thursday. Time was when a mother got a ten day vacation!" Biting the Hand Those unsung heroines of the campus, the Windcrest wives, were dealt a low blow Tuesday night when the wife of a prominent local businessman referred to them as "chari ty cases supported by the government" and "a bunch of cheap skates" in a public meeting. We know of no people who fit this description less than the Windcrest wives. These women, who are struggling along on a meager subsistence to enable their husbands to secure a college education, are putting up with inconveniences that would probably send their antagonist home to mother in tears. This speaker also stated that "the G.l.'s are ruining the town!" Forsooth, Madame, your husband and his fellow businessmen never had it so good—to copy an old Army phrase. From the signs of expansion evident in town, the veteran population has brought prosperity to State College instead of ruin.
