Rural Adminisfrafion
Examinations Announced
Examinations for filling vacan
cies in the Rural Electrification
Administration have been an
nounced. The positions available
are field representative for loan
applications and electrical utility
management, rural electrification
engineer, home economist for
electrical equipment, and inspec
tor for the type of poles used in
REA construction.
Starting salaries for these posi
tions range from $3,397 to $4,902.
No written test is required, but
applicants must have appropri
ate college studies and profes
sional or technical experience.

mission, Washington 25, D. C., or
from post offices.
New $4OOO Equipment
Arrives for ME Lab
New equipment for the Me
chanical Engineering Laboratory
valued at almost $4OOO has been
received at the College during
the past month, Prof. Norman R.
Sparks, head of the ME depart
ment, said yesterday.
The equipment includes a 55
horsepower diesel engine and 50
horsepower gasoline engine, both
obtained from the International
Harvester Company. These two
engines, tractor type internal
combustion motors, have been
set up in the laboratory for use
in student tests.
A demonstration dry ice ma
chine which converts liquid car
bon dioxide into its solid form
has also been obtained, as a gift,
from the Frick Co. of Waynes
boro, Pa.
Alpha Nu to Prepare
Program for Open House
The astronomical honor society.
Alpha Nu. has prepared a special
program in conjunction with the
physics department Open House
Saturday.
Guided tours conducted
through the afternoon and eve
ning will include planetarium
shows, movies, amateur telescope
construction exhibits and two
field observations.
The astronomy laboratory, lo
cated in the sub-basement of Os
mend Laboratory, will have ex
hibits of grinding, polishing, and
aluminizing apparatus for mir
rors as well as the newly con-
