THE DAILY COLLEGIAN, STATE COLLEGE, PENNSYLVANIA Coeds Pick Five-foot-three Algie Moser as May Queen Even though beauty experts may firmly assert that tall girls are the most glamorous, stately and queen-like, Penn State coeds refuted this belief when they chose five- , foot-three-inch Algie Anne Moser as their May Queen. • This year' s hazel-eyed, brown-haired queen comes of Shamokin. She is a general Liberal Arts major, and do receptionist o r hostess work after graduation. As she says, "I want to work where I can be around people, and I'll be will ing to go Wherever the placement service can find a job for me." She is still excited and busy planning for the May Day Cere monies, and this week's rainy weather isn't simplifying her troubles. The College photogra pher decided that a picture of the Queen in the rain would be a good publicity angle, and to meet the occasion, Algie was busy calling up all the sorority houses and dorms to find a transparent um brella and raincoat. Not only the queen. but her parents are also busy making preparations for May Day. Her mother is having a Shamokin dressmaker sew up a gown of white faille with raised satin flowers in it, while her father showed his pride by bringing her four new dresses last weekend. Her two attendants, Eva Mae Winte r and Lois Maloy, will be dressed in pink, and she also would like the two attendants to the Maid of Honor in pink. The Maid of Honor will probably be dressed in a contrasting pastel shade. Algie says she can't remember what she uttered when the win ning news wa s told her, but a sorority sister said "Oh! My Gosh!" was all the little queen could. say. Personality Plus For more particulars about the Queen, she weighs HO pounds, and bubbles over with personal- By Francini Keeney Getting Ready ity. She is crazy about chocolate peanut sundaes, Tex Beneke, Tommy Dorsey and gardenias. She can't resist crew cuts. and a certain basketball player. She dislikes liver, Guy Lombard o and sophisticated people. Algie is a member of Delta Gamma, Junior Prom committee, Cap and Gown committee, Mod ern Dance Club, and is active in Red Cross, Campus rx>Rtios and PSCA. Algie sumsned up the whole ex perience when she said, "I can't think of a nicer way, to graduate from College than being May Queen"---end we are inclined to agree with her.
