THURSDAY, DECEMBER IC, 1947 Tall Bucknell Quintet Takes Last Minute Lead to Top Lions A tall, determined Bucknell five took a one-point lead with one minute to go and stubbornly held on to it until the end of the game to defeat Penn State 46-42 last night on the Nittany court before a crowd of 3500. Passing from the corners to open up the Lawtherrnen's slid ing zone defense, the Bisons shook Williams loose under the basket for a 41-40 lead with three minutes to go. Jack Biery coun tered with a bucket after the vis itors froze the ball for a full min ute, but Bucknell's passing of fense left Desci open for a twin pointer. Mosny closed the lid with two more markers, and in the final seconds, Williams sealed the verdict with an unhampered "peep shot." Jack Biery with 18 points took the scoring honors for the losers, while Williams with 14, Desci with 11, and Mosny with 10 shared the scoring for the vis itors. The Bisons got off to a fast start in last night's game, and jumped to a 12-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. Suddenly the Lions opened up and with Park hill, Bozinski, Batnick and Biery scoring goals in rapid order, pulled to within two points of Coach Guy's squad. In the third period, Stretch Bozinski hit the bucket for three foul shots and one field goal to pace the Blue and White to a 36-32 lead at the three-quarter mark. Desci opened the final stanza with a duo, and Biery countered. with another. Williams and Bo zinski sank foul shots, and then Williams, shooting under the bas ket, marked up two points. By sinking a basket Desci made the score 39-40 and when Williams made his fifth point of the last quarter, Bucknell took a 41-40 lead. From there until the final whistle Jack Guy's team held the lead with the exception of a ten second break when Biery scored two. This lead was nullified by Desci's score.
