Equal Rights for Men
TO THE EDITOR: In sympathy with the inde
pendent men we cocas feel that justice should be
dc.ne! We can understand their desire for better
food and better living facilities, and so we believe
it is only fair that the cormitories now under con
struction be turned over to these men.
It follows, therefore, that when they enjoy
equal dormitory facilities they will also enjoy
equal dormitory privileges.
Now remember you must be in the dorm by 10'
o'clock during the week and don't forget to sign in
and out Friday and Saturday nights. And if you
come in five minutes late you'll only get a one
o'clock removal though it may happen to be the
weekend for which you have big plans.
' By the way, a casual reminder, if your parents
don't send that permission directly to your dor
mitory hostess it just means a weekend campus
for returning from home after 11 p.m.
And this above all . . . you can't have your beer
and drink it too!
Yours for equal rights for men,
Six Coeds

THE DAILY COLLEGIAN. STATE COLLEGE. PENNSYLVANIA
can help the co-op decision more than anything
else by truthfully expressing the 'vox populi.'
The ocncept of the co-operative is more basic.
and goes deeper than the dollars and cents saved
by the students, it is the expression of a new phil
osophy. In attempting to fight the extreme collec
tivism and other ideas of communism the defects of
a rugged, self-centered individualism are becom
ing more and more obvious. It is imperative that
We find a better answer to communism; perhaps
that is to be found in the idea of community—
where mutuality, the working for one's own good
through the group, is the driving force.
The co-operatives are the outcome of such
thinking; and in supe•essing such things the
Trustee n would eo well to look beyond private
enterprise to the good of the community, the
State and Penn State. Rustum Roy

the Oklahoma border isn't safe fer man ner beast,
and especially not fer damnyankees. Ifn you all

AVC Loner to Milholland
TO THE EDITOR: The following is a copy of the
letter sent to Acting President James Milholland by
the Centre County Chapter AVC protesting the co
op decision of the Board of Trustees:
"We of the American Veterans Committee
strongly endorse the 'Collegian' editorial deplor
ing the Board of Trustees' rejection of the pro
posed student co-operative store.
"We feel the action of the Board of Trustees to
be unjustifiable discrimination against the students
of this college and a subservient catering to private
interests in the community. A great many of the
Penn State students are pecuniarly distressed un
der the present inflationary conditions and feel
that this action of the Board of Trustees unneces
sarily imposes continued hardships upon them.
"We respectfully urge you to use your influ-
once toward securing a reconsideration by the
Board of Trustees of the co-op proposal at the
earliest possible moment."
