Trustees Approve
Faculty Changes
Promotions, retirements, title'
changes and leaves were ap
proved by the College's Board of
Trustees at its weekend meeting.
Promotions included Kenneth
L. Holderman, associate profes
sor and assistant director of en
gineering extension to professor
and assistant director of engin
eering extension; Dr. Ernest A.
Lachner, assistant professor of
fish culture to associate professor
of fisheries biology; and John N.
Seiler, assistant professor to as
sociate professor of engineering
extension.
Retirements included those of
Dr. Jabir Shibli, professor of
mathematics; Dr. William E. Butt,
professor of economics; and Paul
P. Korb, agricultural extension
representative. Dr. Butt was
named professor emeritus of eco
nomics.
Dr. Shibli, who will retire on
Jan. 31, joined the faculty as as
sociate professor of mathematics
in 1921, while Dr. Butt, whose re
tirement is effective Jan. 4, has
been on the faculty since 1920.
Korb, who had served in Sulli
van, and later in Tioga county,
since he joined the extension ser
vices in 1918, will retire Dec. 31.

ciate general secretary of Inter
national Student service will
lead a discussion of "World Poli
tics versus World Need" in 304
Old Main 3 A.M. Sunday.
Dr. Adiseshiah has recently re
turned from India arid is an ex
pert on student and university
needs in Southeast Asia. In addi
tion to his travels throughout
Sot' heart Asia in the past year
he has visited all the countries
of Central and Eastern Europe.
The program is sponsored by
the World Fellowship commis
sion of PSCA. Dorothy Park and
William Niering are the co-chair
men.

Fashion Editor
To Speak at Tea
Theta Sigma Phi, women's na
tional journalism honorary, will
hold a tea for all women in jour
nalism in the southwest lounge of
Atherton Hall from 2 to 4 p.m.
Sunday. Miss Cynthia Cabot,
fashion editor of the Philadelphia
Inquirer, will be the guest of
honor.
Invitations were Sent to all
women registered in journalism,
but other women interested in
professional journalism are in
vited to attend, said Roberta
Hutchison, president. All Theta
Sigma Phi alums on campus were
also invited.
Miss Cabot formerly was a
resident of State College and at
tended the College. As fashion
editor of the Inquirer she has
been in charge of many fashion
shows in Philadelphia. She has
dictated much fashion policy be
cause of the prominence of her
paper. Miss Cabot will also be
guest speaker at the journalism
1 and 2 class at 11 a.m. Monday.
Miss Lynette Lundquist, for
mer president of Theta Sigma
Phi, and Mrs. Richard Lose, ad -
viser, will pour. Mary Ann
Pletcher is general chairman for
the affair. Jean Thurston is in
charge of refreshments and dec
oration, and Joan Peters in
charge of arrangements.
Philotes Hold Dance
Alter Basketball Tilt
Philotes, an independent wom
en's organization, is holding a
joint Christmas dance with the
Penn State Club in Old Main
after the basketball game tomor
row evening.
In addition to Penn State men
and Philotes members, independ
ent women from the dormitories
have also been invited. Students
may attend either with dates or
"stag."
The dance will be an informal
affair, with records providing
the music. It will last until mid
night.
