The Presi dent said that taxation rather than borowing should finance the cost of aid under the Marshall Plan. Chancellor Resigns LONDON British Chancellor of the Exchequer, Hugh Dalton, resigned yesterday after admit ting he had disclosed some tax se crets to a newspaper reporter just before his message to Parliament Wednesday. The Minister of Economics, Sir Stafford Cripps, will succeed Dal ton as head of Britain's treausury. Meyers Held Stock WASHINGTON —At the How ard Hughes hearings yesterday, the Senate War Investigators were told by an Ohio firm that Major Ben nett Meyers held aviation stock worth $35,000 when he reported to his superiors that he had no such holdings. Meanwhile Howard Hughes has a refund coming from the Government—nearly $466,000 in income tax overpayments. The Treasury announced that the re fund and credits are for overpay ments by Hughes in 1945-46. Renewed Violence PALESTINE—The most violent wave at disorders against the British in the past six weeks broke out in Jerusalem and Haifa last night. A bridge game was going on near the head end of the line and a student and two coeds were sharing a breakfast orange. Off in a corner, the usual portable radio blared away. A man by man count showed that the first 15 students in line were planning to purchase a to tal of 1149 tickets. The largest purchase was 153 tickets and the smallest for 4 tickets. Some dis may swept through the line just before the window opened as a false rumor spread that sales would be limited to 6 tickets apiece. Future Orders Taken The last man to get a group of tickets was Robert Sallada, of Lambda Chi Alpha, who was twelfth in line when the sales started. He arrived at 5 a.m. Sal lada did not get all of the tickets he planned to purchase and starting with his, the AA office merely took money and orders for tickets to be delivered in the future.
