In 1939 Hay, a Major-4 General
retired, returned for the reunion
of .the class of 1999. According to
Hibshman, the Genersi was a
"well-preserved, delightful old
gentleman, who still wanted to be
caled 'Hep' in preferenfce to 'Gen
evan"
About three years ago Hay re
turned again. This time to attend
the dedication services for 28th
division shrine in BoalSburg.
General Hay hisd commanded the
Army of the Argonne (of which
the 28th division was a part) in
World War I. At this service the
General again called Hibshman
and a classmate by name. He was
about 80 years old at that time.
