LOTS OF TALENT Just about every team on the Lion schedule for this year is crammed with. returning court talent and Muhlenberg is no ex ception. Coach Lee Conker has molded a quintet which• again ranks with the best in Eastern basketball, BROTHERS AT GUARD Probably starting Saturday at guards for Muhlenbercr will be the Domvan brothers--Tarry and Ed—who contribute' mightily to the prestige. of Cooker's aggrega tion. Harry Donavan,', who ranks as the fifth highest scorer in the state at present with 97 points or a 13.9 average for eight games, will ,undoubtedly start at right guard. Harry Was the leading pointmisker for the Mules last season with . an eye-opening 3899 points. Edi Donavan, ' who has been in terchanged at the center post, will probably start at the other guard post against the Lions. 'Newark U. fell 96-34 but. Princeton .upset the Coaker cart, 37-33. Then the boys from Allentown began -to. roll. They moved over Villanova 59-45, humbled previously undefeated Penn 57-50 and outscored La- Salle 59-44. Following an early season in jury, Captain Red Baldwin is back at one of the forward spots for the Mules. The lanky Baldwin scored 369 points during the 1944_ 45 season and put together 332 last year. BALDWIN SPARKPLUG It was Baldwin who led Muh lenberg to a 47-41 victory over Syracuse in the first round of Garden invitation play with 33 points last year. The Mules lost out to Rhode Island State 59-49 in the second. round but Baldwin still managed to garner 19 tallies against the free-sooring Reds. Rhode Island lost a close one, 46-45, to Kentucky in the finals and: Muhlenberg had to be con tet .with, fourth plaice, losing out 6540 to West Virginia in the con soltition round. The scheduled game 'between Delta - Chi and Phi Kappa was cancelled due to the inability of each team to field a quintet. League No. 5 ended in a two way tie as both Alpha Chi Rho and Phi Sigma Delta racked up victories. Alpha Chi .Rho sub merged Alpha Zeta tinder an ava ian'ch of points as it won 31-7. The Phi Sigs trounced Sigma Phi Sigma, 26-17. CARLS TALLIES :Sixteen markers were recorded by Alpha• Chi Rho's Mark Carls as he paced the Offensive. Stan Siegel was again the big gun in the Phi Sig victory with ten tallies. •- High individual scoring mark for the season was set by Pi Lambda Phi's Iry Effross netted 20 points in the P 1 Lamb 2640 victory over Tau Phi Delta. Effross was the whole team as his dead sight . from each corner of the court and under the hoop proved . disastrous to Tau Phi Delta. Jim Duffy, an Army dischargee, has romped off with the honors at 145 pounds while Bill Eisnor, another V-l 2 vet, will start at 155 pounds.
