Phone 2405 THE DAILY COLLEGIAN, STATE COLLEGE, PENNSY'LVANIA Hig and Hum The Hig has 23 veteran gridders on his roster and tomorrow afternoon at the New Beaver Field he has to choose eleven starters. The Hum has 26 men on his squad, who have seen action on one of his previous teams, only Hum is going to start 80 men tomorrow afternoon at the same field. Both the Hig and the Hum have had their share of problems and work. Both of their squads hale labored long and hard under the guidance of their respective coaches, and are just about ready for their 1946 debut. The last time the Hig's boys marched down igle field for the Glory of Old State was, of course, last fall. But Huin's boys haven't seen actibn since 1943, and we look forward to their return with great anticipation. We expect that both squads will cover plenty of yardage tomorrow afternoon, but if Higgins' team can gain the 158 steps a minute that Fish burn's will, Penn State would monopolize the headlines on every sports page in the country come Monday morning. It's hard to matdh that Blue Band. Pep. Rally , Collegian is sponsoring a pep rally on the front steps of Old Main at 7:15 tonight. Coach Bob Higgins and his varsity football squad will be present. The psychological state of mind of an athlete very often determines the outcome - of an athletic struggle. By attending in overwhelming numbers and by singing and cheering with sincere enthu siasm, Penn Staters can prove to the Blue and White gridders that the Students are in there rooting for them. . - • • • • Collegian looks for a full turnout •to give the footballers and Coach Higgins a rousing well wiihing that will make the Lion roar on Beaver Field tomorrow afternoon. • • Ed►t Quips The Artists' Series priority numbers and tickets go on sale next week. Priority numbers will be issued to students between' 4 and 4:30 p.m., IVlQn day at the Athletic Kssociation window. Schwab auditorium can seat approximately 1500 people. It does not take much higher mathe matics to figure that there will not be enough tickets to meet the, demand (using simple arith metic: 7,000 students, plus 800 faculty, plus 7,090 townspeople equals 14,800. Subtract 1500 and you have 13,000 people who will not be able to attend. —MICHAEL A. BLATZ -LAWRENCE G. FOSTER -RICHARD H. SARGE . ~ ..., . . ....
