Resume Penn
With nine straight victories behind them after the dou
ble trouncing of . Syracuse, the Lion'.baseballers leave today
for their final game of the season with Penn. The game
will be played at Franklin Field, Philadelphia, tomorrow.
The weekend found the Lions with wins number eight
and nine chalked up on the record slate. Bob Gehrett turned
in a live-hit performance Fri

tee. A strong wind was blowing
at the runners' backs in the
220-yard, as it was for the 100.-

If this new world record is ac

crown for Elwell. He holds the

trackmen rang the curtain down
on the 1946 season Saturday af
ternoon when they downed Col
gate UniVersity, 74-51, at Hamil
ton, New York.
The Nittany cindermen took a
total of 9 first-places in the 14
track and field events. The 'jave
lin performance of Larry Gerwig
featured the Penn State penform
ance at Colgate as he heaved the
spear a distance of 194 ft. 6 1 / 1 , ins.
Gerwig in his first season has
developed into a star who shows
outstanding promise according to
CoaCh Werner. it is possible that
Werner will enter Gerwig in. 'the
National A.A.U.'s later this
month.
Only double-winner of the
meet was 'the speedy McGuire of
Colgate who took the 220-yard
and the 440-yard events. His
fleet teammate, Al Meeker, led a
fast pack to the tape in the 880-
yard run in 1:53.4 min.
First-placers for Penn State
were Kritzer, Auman, Longneck
er, Dottermush, Krug, Williges,
Gerwig, Sykes, and Garbinski.
