Coeds Talk Back
To Anti-Slackers
We pity the ex-Gl’s who want
their girls to look dream-world
ish in skirts. We console those
who had their illusions Shatter
ed when they saw some girls with
slacks. 'Bowlegs, varicose veins,
knock knees, and pigeon toes are
things coeds can’t overcome at
'this late date.
When the days were warm and
Indian - we smiled
when we heard comments about
women in slacks. Most of us
agreed that we shouldn’t wear
them, on camipus. One feminine
little thing belittled slacks all
summer and all fall. 'We met her
bn the 'Mall last night in brown
glen-plaid slacks with a red jack
et buttoned tightly over them.
And her date agreed that she
looked wonderful. After all the
temperature isn’t much like spring
anymore.
The latest comeback we’ve
heard about the slacks vs. no
slacks question is one from a bit
ter coed who would probably look
better without them. A hundred
and sixty pounds look o.k. on a
football star, but on a S’ 2” coed;
they are not quite evenly dis
trbiuted. She sits in her lonely
little room in Atherton Hall ev
ery weekend and pines as she
writes in her di.ary, “Well, some
men around here don’t look very
well in pants either. Especially

the ones who insist upon having
them pegged until they make
pretty good imitations of girls’ ski
pants.” That’s what she says.
We’re just quoting her.
The solution seems to be eith
er that the men accept the women,
in. slacks by virtue of the motto,.
“Love me; ' love my slacks,” or
that the coeds freeze their beau
tiful—or otherwise—legs during
the cold, winter months to, fol
low. It’s a vicious cycle, men. If
the coeds freeze their legs, they
won’t ‘be beautiful anymore when
warm weather sets in and they
longer have a good excuse for
wearing the—may I mention them
hated name once more, please?—
slacks.
And anyway, don’t the sweaters
make up for the slacks, huh?
