Champion Boxer's Niece
Wins 14 Swimming Medals
It's cusomary for Zivics to kayo
opponents in the ring, but when
one emerges victor in the water,
it's news.
Jacqueline Zivic, niece of the
boxer, Fritzie Zivic, and first se
mester freshman at the College,
holds 14 medals in swimming.
Having started in competition at
the age of 12, 17-year-old Jacque
won her first title three years ago
in Pittsburgh, her home town.
She now holds three titles won
i n Allegheny Mountain Associa
tion Meets—ZOO-meter junior free
style record, 100-meter junior
back stroke title and •100-meter
senior free style record.
"I guess competition runs in my
family," Jacque admitted. "Dad
was a boxer until I was about two
years old, then ho retired. Soon
after, he gave Uncle Fritzie blood
when he was ill and then my
uncl e won the championship."
The versatile Freshman who
was the first girl lifeguard chosen
in the Pittsburgh area last sum
mer is also a flyer. As one of the
youngest aviatrixes at the Butler
airport, Jacque made her first
solo flight. October, 1944.
"Why do you go in for swim
ming so heartily when you in
tend to major in psychology?"
Jacque was asked.
She 'considered a while. "Well
I like to see any sport done
gracefully and swimming happens

, When asked if she attracted any
notice with her name card pro
claiming "Zivic," Jackie threw up

"People shot questions at me

worst part was, I wasn't allowed
