semi-formal pledge dance at the
Phi Kappa Sigma house tomorrow
night. Newly elected chapter offi

GAMMA PHI BETA actives this
week completed a knitted afghan
which will be sent to the Walter
Reed Hospital. This, project is •a
part of the sorority's war work.
KALLOZETIA, a group of coeds
who will later become a chapter of
a national sorority, has been rec
ognized by the Student Welfare
committee, and was recently ad
mitted as an associate member of
the local Panhellenic Council. Of
ficers of the society are: Helen
Grace 'McColein, president; Lois
McClelland, vice-president; Helen
Morris, secretary; and Blythe
Hartley, treasurer.
KAPPA KAPPA GAMMA held
its formal senior-initiate banquet
at the State College Hotel Sunday
evening. There were 53 guests, in
cluding town alumnae.
SIGMA DELTA TAU: The
chapter gave an informal party.

Cwens Tap 29 Coeds
At Annual Breakfast
Twenty-nine coeds prominent
in extra-curricular activities
were tapped by Cwens, sopho
more women's honorary, at its an
nual , breakfast in the Old Main
Sandwich Shop Sunday morning.
Coeds of the second, third, and
fourth semesters who had ma
triculated since March, 1944, with
a minimum of two activities and
a 1:5 All-College average were
selected. They will be initiated
at a traditional Old English' din
ner.

Leadership Day
Program Planned

Mortar Board, senior . women's
honorary, is planning a Leader
ship Day to be held in the lounges
of Atherton Hall on the after
noon of June 5..
The main speaker of the after
noon will be Mrs. Ethel B. Gil
bert, from the. Office of Industry
in Washington. She will speak at
2:20 p. m.
From three to four o'clock,
speeches will be given in each
of the four lounl,es. . Dr. Lester
P. Guest, of the psychology de-
Partment, will discuss "Women in
Industry"; Dr. Kinsley R. Smith,
also of the psychology depart
ment, will talk on "How to Adjust
the Civilian to the Returning Vet
eran"; Dr. Walter Coutu, of the
sociology department, will speak
on "Freedom v. Security"; and
Dr. R. Wallace Brewster, of the
political science department, will
discuss "Are Women's Politics
Pure?"
After the lectures, a tea will be
held from 4-4:30 p. m.
The Atherton lounges will be
open to anyone who is. interested
in attending these lectures.

Coed Wins Scholarship
A refresher course on food pre
servation will •be conducted by the
home economics department from
June 26 to 28. This three-day
non-credit course is intended to
meet the demand for more home
canned food. There is a registra
tion fee Of 50 cents.
A regular credit food preserva
tion course will extend from June
25 to 29. Persons desiring to take
