Old Mania
If the janitors who cleaned up
Rec Hall last week after Ship’s
Ball have found any buttons on
the floor, please .return them to
Barracks 13. They belong on the
•blouses of the Marines in that
barracks, and popped off when
Lt. Comdr. Wisner announced
awards for scholarships and ath
letics. . The aforementioned bar
racks copped a shiny cup for the
best average in the V-12 Unit,
and another big cup for winning
the College service softball cham
pionship. But that’s not all! At
the review Saturday afternoon,
the men in the company compos
ing that Barracks received a
streamer for being best-looking,
best-marching, or something to
that effect.
One remarkable thing that
Maniac must note about last
weekend: It didn’t rain, it didn’t
snow, and no fierce winds blew
in over Mount' Nittany. Definite
ly a weekend to remember!
More About Ship’s Ball
From a vantage point inside the
microphone. Maniac saw 7 many
other couples dancing beside the
ones, mentioned last week. Among
them' were Theta Phi Alpha

THE COLLEGIAN
Ship Ahoy
By A/S FRED VOGEL
The launching of the U. S. S,
Nittany was a huge success as a
large crowd of Army, Navy, Mar
ine and civilian men sallied forth
with the cream of the female crop.
On deck, were Ensign G. Beiders
and Lt. fjg) R. Gedeon, former
Chief Specialists at this unit. The
V-12 orchestra, led by Pvt. Gene
Keller was in top form. The
“ship-shape” decorations brought
high praise for the decorating
committee. During intermission
the V-12 Band and color guard
were on hand, and the V-12 Glee
Club, under direction of Prof.
Frank Gullo, sang several songs.
