Professor Nevins, the historian,
has returned from Australia with
the report that Australia is looking
forward to the post-war era when
she is preparing to take her place

South America saw the further

and Nicaragua.
(c) Our Domestic Attention Area.
This attention area is coming to
dominate more and more all news
events, especially as we approach
the planning of the peace. At the
moment the balance sheet is one
of confusion in recording our gains
and losses. President Roosevelt an
nounced he would accept the re
nomination "—reluctantly, but as
a good soldier—."
The major issue seemed to be•
shaping up around the selection
of a candidate - for the vice presi
dency. Wallace's social and eco
nomic views have created for him
bitter enemies among southern
conservatives.
The Republicans were spending
their time shaping up party stra
tegy...,Attempts -were being made
to comp* * the differences in the
party between the, isolationist and
world. organization wings. More
and more it seemed•the interpre
tation of the party's vague foreign
policy depended upon novitiate
Dewey. Retail prices seem to be
headed upwards with changes in
ceilings due to Congressional pres-.
sure.
