The other meet scheduled for the season with 'Va.- lanova was cancelled because of a Navy V-12 review ,slated for the same day. • Frank Rainear was the b4g gun in the Nittany attack against the Red Raiders. The Navy trainee who formerly comp e t e d for Princeton won firsts in the broad jump and both hurdles events as Penn State put together four other first places and a cluster of sec onds and thirds to outscore Col gate. Saturday's matches will be played on the varsity tennis courts. The Nittany Lions will be at tempting to make it two straight over the Big Red of Cornell, while the match with Penn will mark the first encounter between the two schools this year. Coach Dickison will, start Walt Stenger, Ed Meyer, Bob Tuttle, Ed Perry, Bob Rossheim, and Joe Holtzinger in both matches. Stenger fills the No. 1 spot on the team, Meyer No. 2, and Tuttle No. 3. The other three members of the squad play the 'remaining sin gles matches. Bud Long Competes In 4 Collegiate Sports Add golf to the list of sports in which Marine Pvt. Bud Long has competed since he came to Penn State as a marine trainee last July. The Norristown youth, who for merly attended Washington and Jefferson College, now has four varsity sports to his credit, and ranks second only to Marine Pvt. Tubby Crawford in Penn State's wartime .athletic archives. Long played soccer .last fall, filling the place Crawford left when he shifted to football, was one of ;John Lawther's high scor ers 'in basketball, and this spring competed in both track and golf.
