"The Post Office Is Just Opposite Us" V-12 Medical Officer Draws Active Duty Lt. (jg) Mathew Emil Kuber, formerly of the Naval Hospital at Philadelphia, has replaced Lt. (sg) Ernest H. Coleman as medical offi cer for the Navy V-12 unit here. Lt. Coleman has been assigned to active duty aboard a carrier in the Atlantic. His family will remain in State College. A well known 'Philadelphia ath lete, lit. Kuber is a graduate of Villanova and - of the Temple -Ijni;- versity medical sctiool. He won letters in track, football, and bas ketball at Roman Catholic Hier School and was a guard on the Villanova team - that defeated' Penn State at Beaver Field in 1936. This victory marked Villanova's only triumph over Penn State. Honorary , Holds Banquet . Phi Gamma Mu, social science honorary, held a banquet at State College Hotel on Wednesday eve ning. THE COLLEGIAN Carruthers, Good, Weder Win Titles Anne Carruthers, Peggy Good, and Genevieve Weder were select ed as outstanding senior women at the Matrix Dinner, held January 26, announced Barbara Mennies, president of Theta Sigma Phi. Miss, Carruthers was named Quill Girl, the title of Matrix Girl went to Miss. Good, and' Miss Weder was designated as Cap Girl. The title of Quill Girl is award ed each year to the best all-around coed as determined by an all-col lege election. Miss Carruthers' award was based , on her activities which include freshman, town, and senior senator, ex-president of Kappa Alpha Theta, chairman of Westminster Student Group, Mor tar Board, Louise Homer Club, and Education Council. Matrix Girl is nominated and elected by Theta Sigma Phi, worn en's journalism honorary, and is their choice for the outstanding activities girl of the year. Miss Good, who 'claims the title this year, is chairman of the Elections Committee, president of Alpha Chi Omega, president of Mortar Board, publicity chairman of WRA, and a member of Liberal Arts Council. She is listed in "Who's Who in American Colleges and Universi ties," and a member of the Fac ulty-Student Committee on Recre ation and Welfare. Theta Sigma Phi also elects the Cap Girl as the senior outstanding in academics. Miss Weder won the • scholastic honors with a straight "3" all-college average. She is also president of the Span ish Club. Pre-Medi Society Elects Pre-medical Society elected Alice Drumm vice-president at its last regular meeting. Miss Drumm suc ceeds Roy Delany in - this office. According to the society consti tution, if its president fails to com plete his term of office, the vice president takes his position auto matically. By this rule, Delany re places President Thomas Guinivan who graduates prior to the com pletion of his term. Itetzet Attends Meeting President Ralph D. Hetzel will attend a meeting of the executive committee of the American Coun- I cil on Education in Washington, D. C., on Tuesday. President Hetzel also has an appointment at this time with Washington officials in his capacity as . chairman of the military affairs committee of the Association of State Universities.
