'JEFFREY " A TRADITION •
Bill Jeffrey is a tradition to the
College and an idol to his players.
And on the side, he is still the
best ball-handler on the statiad al
'though his speed ain't 'what it us
'ed to be. •
He teaches "his' lads" to .play
soccer-volley ball, a Jeffrey inno
vation that helps develop soccer
coordination on rainy afternoons
in Rec' Hall. He recites poetry to
the players to keep them relaxed.
He rarely criticizes, but dOes it
with a firm, kindly word. Above
all, he turns out. winning combi
nations. year after year.
Even his fellow-coaches don't
see how he does it. The other day
John Lawther, . Lion basketball
mentor, expressed his admiration
f:•r the coach who has seen his
teams . lose a 'Second three games
in the last 11 years of varsity play.
'"Bill," he joked, "if you don't
watch out, the season will be over
before yon . lose a game."
