The . process or our gradual disillusionment is finally complete.
The last straw was the shattering of our dream that when we inherited
a Collegian column .we would write under the 'lLean and Hungry
Look" heading, last used and abused by former colleague Milt Dolinger.
.A frantic search through' the - printshops revealed the unhappy fact that
Dolinger absconded with "Lean and Hungry." • But that's 0.k., Milt,
if you had a sentimental attachment to that line of type, and if you get
any satisfaction out of the thought that no one else will desecrate the
title, we won't quibble about it. We thought up a new head, anyway,
- and we guess the efrort . expended was good for our soul.
'Once over slightly . . .
A back: room conference among the Thespian lads resulted in the
election of Gil Stratfon (who recently saved the show for the musical
comedy boys) and Lee Lutz to that august body. Of course, Goss did
cast three votes (for absent members, he says), but then parliamentary
procedure never was much up their alley.
Barney's back .. . .
Incidentally, it was Roz who started the announcement, but there
followed in her wake a parade of people to the office the other night,
all. of .them gleefully proclaiming, "Say, have you heard? Barney's
back!" Anil then each prodeeded . to 'outline Barney Weinberg's exten
sive college career. We're quite willing to concede that the guy's a
boy wonder, a miniature Orson Welles, a heluva swell fellow, but it
got to a point where the entire staff got an acute case of palsey at the
mention of his name. But just to make it official, we want to announce
to all and sundry that Barney's back.

An especially funny passage in "Barefoot Boy with Cheek," an
hilarious take-off on campus life, really hit home with us. One of the
saner chaiaCters in the book •brightly suggests; f"people don't half ap
preciate their mothers, There might to be ,a ;special day set aside for
mothers. It could be called Mothers' Day." ,We can sympathize with
his unwitting ignorance because last, week, in a mood of reformation,
we suggested in an edit that we thought no one, would
,read that a com
mittee of students, faculty, and . seivicerneri should be set up to provide
adequate weekend-enteiliiiiinent. - .„.i.We!ve ;been walking around in a
perpetual blush since we iiiscoverecilhat a committee does exist,'under
the title of Committee on RecreatiOn :and Welfare, :and has been _
func
tioning all summer.
Yipes, a man . .
Seeing Bill Reimer spending part .91 his furlough back on campus
reminded us how nice it'd-,be to, have a -couple -male .staff members
around the office again. •But then who are we to bemoan the inevitable
evolutionary process that's finally • resulting in giving women their
rightful place on campus? We were always griping that we never had
enough say in. putting out the rag; and gee, but it's great to be able to
have hen-sessions without any men, poking their noses in—it says
here. .
