P. Leetch, director of the College Placement Service, stated. ' The Placement Service has made it possible 'for seniors to get these certificates prior to graduation. Contest Smith Fills CA Secretary Post James T. Smith has been ap pointed executive secretary of the Penn State Christian Association, filling the vacancy left by the res ignation of Harry. W. Seamans in July. Mr. Smith, who comes to Penn State from California, arrived. in town last Monday to assume his new duties as head of the PSCA. The son of a Kansas minister, Mr. Smith has been active in stu dent religious work since his un dergraduate days at Kansas. Wes leyan University, where. he was a member• of the YMCA cabinet and president of Epworth Leagues at college. While at Wesleyan he served as delegate to the Rocky Mountain Student Conference, National Methodist Youth Council,„ and Central Kansas Conference,. and was , an assistant to• the minister of the University church and assis tant dean and manager of a. large Epworth League Institute. He was graduated in 193 . 7 with. honors. The following• year he entered Yale Divinity. School and after three years of extensive study he received a graduate degree in the field of religious leadership in col leges and universities. During his Yale days, Mr. Stnith. gained prac tical kno*ledge. in this field through his work with boys at the New Haven YMCA and as associ ate director of Welcome Hall, a community. center for the, under privileged. First award went to Elaine J. Cox, second award to June G. Baily, third award to Nancy And, Pagliante, and fourth to William Schabacker. Elaine D. Gilbert and Richard E. Marsh received honorable men tion. Awards were chosen from more than 20' entries and were for the best advertising presentations, in cluding plans, copy and layout. Recognition to winners was made in the form of certificates of merit with cash prizes of $25 and $l5 to the first two Winners,. and $5 t each to the third and fourth winners.
