Initiation procedures will begin
a( f):30 p.m. Friday and will con
tinue until 6 p.m. the following
day, At 7:30 p.m. Saturday a
firmal. banquet will be held at the
Stale College Hotel. A formal tea
will lie held in Atherton Hall at 3
pm. Sunday.
Founded at Cornell University
in 1917, Sigma Delta Tau 'has 17
active chapters and 18 alumnae
clubs. The Phi chapter will be the
eighteenth active chapter. Badge
of the new Greek group is a jew
eled torch with five pearls on the
•crossbar and one on the handle,
/.hove the pearls are the three
Greek, letters, and a diamond.is set
in the flame. The tea rose is the
official flower.

Alpha Chi Omega Wins
Swimming by Default
Swimming mtramurals, sched
uled for yesterday, tomorrow and
Saturday have been canceled and
the victory awarded to Alpha Chi
Omega by. default, since no other
sorority or dormitory teams were
present last night for the first
meet.
Swimmers were to have obtain
ed medical permissions and to
have put in two hours of practice
by yesterday in order to be elig
ible for the competition, according
to announcements made for the
past two weeks by WRA.
Alpha Chi Omega has automati
cally achieved first place in swim
ming, thus gaining five points to
wards the WRA intramural cup.
Members of the winning team
were Estelle E. Brown, Janis L.
Feistei, Shirley A. Fink, Marilyn
L. Globisch, Jean Louise Miller,
Dorothy L. Shoemaker and Betty
J. Wolfram.

Will and Tom Anders are play
ed by Serell Wagner and McKay
Carson respectively. These two
townsmen were fleeing-the village
before the Nazis could find and
execute them for subversive ac
tivities within the town.

Practice Hours Set
For Basketball Series
Practice hours for coeds who
have signed up for WRA inter
class basketball matches have
been set for 4 o’clock and 8 o’-
clock today and 4 o’clock and 7
o’clock tomorrow.
Participants must have"' two
practice hours to their credit and
must present a medical permis
sion blank, obtainable at the dis
pensary.
All applicants will be accepted
to play in the matches, which be
gin next week, and if necessary
two teams will be organized for
each class to accommodate them.
Team captains, as announced
by Adele J. Levin, WRA presi
dent, are Freshmen Marilyn Glo
bisch and Gloria J. McKinley,
Sophomores Eleanor P. Wills and

Panhel Books Campus
Owls for Annual Ball
To Be Held March 26
George Washko’s Campus Owls
have been selected by Panhellenic
Council to provide music for Pan
hel Ball which will be held at the
Nittany Lion Inn from 9 p.m. until
midnight March 2G, according to
Panhellenic Council' President
Martha E. James. Admission to
the dance will be a book which
will be contributed to the Victory
Book Drive, Miss James stated.
The committee in charge of the
dance is headed by R. Christine
Yohe who will be assisted by Bar
bara Boak and B. Ann Moore
house.
The date for the annual Panhel
Sing has not yet been set by D. J.
Jennings, Margaret Cherry, and
Ruth Kaufman, the committee in
charge, but the annual Sing will
be discussed at' the next Panhel
lenic Council meeting, Miss James
stated. -
The status of Sigma Delta Tau,
which will become national Feb
ruary 19 to February 21, has been
changed in Panhel. Formerly,
Sigma Delta Tau representatives
merely were- allowed to attend
Panhel meetings without the vot
ing privilege. Now, however,
Sigma Delta Tau representatives
will be on the same basis as the
sororities.
Dorothy T. Kobush is in charge
of the Panhellenic booklet. Ma
terial, including information, re
garding expense sheets, the num
ber and names of all members of
a sorority, initiation fees, pledging
information, and dues, must be
handed in at the next Panhel
meeting.

Drummond to Talk
To Senior Women
Dr. Laura W. Drummond, direc
tor and professor of home econom
ics, will hold the first discussion
group on her book “Youth and an
Instruction in Marriage'and Fam
ily Living,” for senior women in
Women’s Building lounge at 4:10
p. m. Tuesday.
All senior women will be di
vided alphabetically into seven
sections each of which will con
stitute a separate discussion group.
Coeds will be notified by Dean of
Women Charlotte E. Ray as to
when their section will meet, and
may contact her if the time is in
convenient for them.
Dr. Drummond yesterday visit
ed Williamsport for an inspection
tour of Child Care Centers there.
She was accompanied by Miss
Della J. Avery and Mrs. Marion
S. McDowell, assistant professors
of home economics and directors
of the courses which the'home eco
nomics, departments will sponsor
this month on correct' child care
to aid vicinities where mothers
are doing war work. t
