Women's Building was the scene of unusual commotion Sunday af ternoon, when coeds found a smoke-filed lounge and a distinc ive odor of fire. The odor soon spread to the hall. no caw could discover the origin of the fire. A coed called the State College Fire Department and the Campus Patrol, but it wasn't until A. Jane Stewart '46: lifted the cushions from the sofa, that the blaze was finally discovered. Several Campus Patrolmen put out the tire, which was evidently caused by a cigarette. However, in announcing the total, Miss Nina M. 'Bentley, assistant to the dean of women, said that more money would prob ably be reported today and tomor_ row. Drive receipts will be divided among the Mifflin County Chil dren's Aid Fund, Mrs. Hetzel's Emergency Loan Fund, and the American Women's Hospital Corps. In addition to trying to alleviate the sufferings of civilians in war stricken England, the Hospital Corps provides district nurses and other forms of medical aid to in digent Negroes and whites in the southern highlands of the United States.
