PAGE EIGHT Ewell To Compete In Summer Meets Having climaxed a glorious col lege track career with his triple win in the Intercollegiaites in New York last weekend, Penn State’s outstanding running star, Barney Ewell, will continue through the Summer in competi tion in exhibition meets through out the country. The first of these meets in which he will take part is a spe cial exhibition in Rochester, N. Y., next weekend. He expects to en ter the nation’s armed forces near the end of this month. Before that time he will compete in the NCAA and the National AAU meets. Running unattached, he will try to add to the glorylhe has already won for himself and his school in these meets against the cream of the nation’s track crop. He will probably wear the Nittany Blue and White into these battles be fore he takes on the khaki of the United States Army. However, the Blue and White will probably meet several service teams. Sophomores, who two weeks ago were playing with Coach Leo Houck’s freshman nine, will make their appearance in the lineup as the next official intercollegiate season gets under way. At the same time, all seniors, or players who have played three seasons with the varsity, will be ineligible. Two of the matches recorded on the winning side of the books were registered over Pitt. Pili Penn Slate Lion Eleven Faces Tough Fall Schedule Eight games are scheduled l'or the Nittany eleven next Fall when Penn State’s gridiron representa tives take on a tough series of opponents, including Pitt and Penn. The'opener on October 4 is with Bucknell at Penn State. On October 11 the Lions en gage Cornell at Ithflca and the following week invade Bethlehem to tangle with the Lehigh eleven. Colgate furnishes the opposition on New Beaver Field on October 25. On the first day of November, Syracuse will attempt to avenge the defeat they suffered at the hands of the Lions last Fall. Tak ing to the road for the next game, Penn State’s football team goes to Morgantown to meet West Vir ginia. Penn at Philadelphia and Pittsburgh at home wind up the season with a bang.
