THE tiASLY GOLLEGLAN
Panthers Upset
Nebraska
Good news floated into the Nit
tany grid camp yesterday when it
was learned that Pepper Petrella,
slightly, injured in the West Vir
ginia game, is practically certain
of seeing action when the Lions
charge the Panthers in Pittsburgh
Saturday.
•Coach Bob Higgins’ biggest
problem will be to devise an at
tack which will stop a dangerous
Pitt .team which came back to
trounce the Fordham Rams and
Nebraska after losing decisively
early in the season.
• Saturday’s meeting will be the
Lions’ 41st meeting with the Pan
thers," Penn State's oldest rival.
The Blue and 'White has not de
feated Pitt in the Smokey City
since 1919 when the Lions tri
umphed, 20-0.
However, the classic victory of
the long series was recorded in
1939 when the Panthers were
humbled 10-0 on New Beaver
Field to create one of the biggest
upsets of the season.

'45 Roofers Trim
Army In Finale
Clyde Underwood's freshman
soccer team kept up Penn State’s
undefeated tradition Saturday
when they concluded an unbeaten
season by blanking the Army
plebes, 2-0.
Aided by fine work on the part
of his teammates, Frank Klase,
Nittany center forward, booted a
goal in the first quarter and dupli
cated this feat in the second per
iod. A tight Lion cub defense
kept the Army booters out of dan
gerous territory most of the after
noon.
The only blemishes on Penn
State’s record are two ties. Navy
and Syracuse battled the Lions to
1-1 scores.
