The number of patients treated
at the dispensary in September
dropped from 3791 last-year to 3059
this year, probably because of the
week's postponement of College,
Dr. Joseph P. Ritenour, health
service head has reported.
However there were 32 patients
in the infirmary for a total of 89
days last month as compared with
25 patients for 54 days a year ago
September. A large proportion of
these patients were football play
ers.
There were 572 out-patient calls
made last month and 36 excuses
issued. The largest number of dis
pensary calls were for physical ex
aminations, which totaled 1700 as
compared with last year's 1648.
One reason for the increase in
the number of patients treated at
the infirmary, Dr. Ritenour sug
gested, was that because of the in
fantile paralysis scare, the students
were willing to go to bed if they
were sick.
